So when they became aware of our current call to the Queensland Government for the urgent re-funding of our free tenancy education programs beyond 31st December 2024, they invited our CEO Paul in for an on-air chat to do a deep-dive into why our preventative and early intervention approach is so essential.
In a time when the housing crisis is showing no signs of easing, coupled with the heightened cost-of-living, David and Paul discussed the extraordinary benefits of our free tenancy education for those seeking to secure a rental property as well as those who may be struggling to sustain their current tenancy.
Paul highlighted our early intervention work with the Tenancy Skills Institute’s valued network of Property Managers, backed by The REIQ, to identify at-risk tenancies and link them to available support to ensure these households keep a roof over their heads.
Over 200+ tenancies have been sustained so far and there are so many more opportunities we can explore for this quick and effective strategy. It undoubtedly improves the outcomes for Tenants, Landlords and Property Managers and provides tangible savings for the Government.
We eagerly await the re-funding outcome for the Tenancy Skills Institute from the Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works (Homes for Queenslanders).
A heartfelt thank you to David Ilffe and the ABC Southern Queensland team for their ongoing support of our essential work!
