Course a win for Gladstone resident
The rental market in Gladstone is currently tight and many renters have seen large increases in weekly rent from pre-pandemic times.
Tenancy Skills Institute offers a free short course for new renters looking for tips on how to submit a winning application and current tenants looking for ways to maintain a trouble-free tenancy.
For December and January, Tenancy Skills Institute ran a competition where graduates went into a draw to win a month’s rent of $1500. The lucky winner was Gladstone resident Kasha.
Tenancy Skills Institute CEO Paul Tommasini shares: “We know a lot of people are doing it tough at the moment. We wanted to offer a prize as a cost-of-living boost for one lucky graduate.”
“From graduate feedback, we understand that the course is a big help for anyone struggling to be approved for a tenancy. We offered the extra incentive to encourage more people to complete the course. While there was only be one lucky winner of the months free rent, all of our graduates gain vital skills that last a lifetime,” Tommasini said.
The money will make a big difference for Kasha. While Kasha is still finding the rental market highly competitive, she is putting her learning into practice and is confident she will find a home soon.
She shared: “What I’ve found the most helpful from Tenancy Skills is how to communicate effectively and who to communicate to. The course has taught me to only stick to what is relevant and to keep it short and simple.”
“It’s also easy to understand and complete, hopefully giving graduates that extra edge over other applicants,” Kasha adds.
Tenancy skills CEO shared: “Kasha has invested her time to learn how to be a great renter, including tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities, how to clean and maintain a rental and budgeting. We’d be happy to connect real estate agents looking for a skilled tenant.”
The training is developed in conjunction with real estate agents and the industry to ensure students learn how to avoid the common pitfalls of renting.
