We want to create better rental outcomes for everyone.
When we achieve this, everybody wins.
Our story
A project founded by inCommunity Inc.
In early 2017, inCommunity Inc. connected with local real estate agencies to develop a training package for tenants that would lead to more successful tenancies.
Together, we identified tenants most likely to succeed were aware of their rights and responsibilities, could communicate effectively with their property manager, clean and maintain the rental property, and manage their finances.
Graduates would receive a certificate recognised by our real estate industry supporters, strengthening their chances of being approved for a rental property and successfully maintaining their tenancies.

Partnering for better rental outcomes
The Tenancy Skills Institute is recommended by the REIQ (Real Estate Institute of Queensland), Queensland’s peak body for real estate, and supported by the RTA (Residential Tenancies Authority) and more broadly across the real estate industry throughout Australia.
We work with industry partners to ensure our training aligns with legislation and industry standards whilst delivering education for tenants and prospective tenants.
Between 2018 and 2024, the Queensland Government partnered with the Tenancy Skills Institute to make our tenancy education courses available across Queensland, enabling our expert trainers to deliver practical ‘how-to’ tenancy skills to community members in all corners of the state.
In 2021, we commenced growing the program outside Queensland with early launch sites in New South Wales and Victoria. In 2025, our tenancy education courses have been adapted for all states and territories within Australia.
Today, we offer two self-paced online courses, ensuring tenants across Australia can access vital tenant education anytime, anywhere on their smartphone or computer. By addressing the needs of property managers, we create real pathways for future tenants, regardless of their background.
We work with real estate agents, property managers, schools, community groups and more. Need more information? Contact our friendly Tenancy Skills Institute team today!
